Lucas May – Owner/Instructor/Coach
Drafted out of high school in 2003 by the Los Angeles Dodgers, played shortstop for the first 3 years of his career. After a brief stint in the outfield, he filled a void of catching prospects in the Dodgers system and converted full time to catching in 2006 — 3 years later he made his Major League debut for the Kansas City Royals. In 12 seasons of professional baseball, he’s had the opportunity to learn from the best minds in baseball. Baseball has been his lifelong passion, and it is now his mission to teach kids what it takes to play at the next level!

Steve Scheelk – Instructor
Steve Scheelk grew up playing elite level baseball in the Kansas City area. Graduated in 2007 from North Kansas City High School, placing 5th in state his senior year. Attended Maple Woods Community College on an Academic Scholarship while playing 2 years of NJCAA Division I baseball and taking home the NJCAA Region XVI Regional Championship in 2009. In 2010 and 2011 he attended Union College (KY) on an Athletic Scholarship where he was awarded the AAC Academic All-Conference Team award. Both years they won the AAC Regular Season Championship and had an Opening Round Appearance to the NAIA Baseball National Championship. Steve received his Bachelors of Science in Human Performance in 2011. After college Steve became a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer by the National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA) in 2011. Steve continued his education by receiving his Masters in Healthcare in 2017, from the University of Saint Mary.
In 2012, Steve started working as a personal baseball/softball instructor for youth around the Kansas City area. He has worked with a wide variety of age groups including multiple kids that have been awarded college scholarships to play baseball/softball. His love for the game, hard work, dedication, commitment to improving his knowledge, high level coaching experience, and passion for youth athletics, drives his goals to help kids reach their full potential in sports and in life!
Alex Klonowski – Instructor
Alex Klonowski is a Kearney native and a 2010 graduate of Kearney High School. He went on to play division 1 college baseball at Northern Illinois University. There, he recorded a start at every position except catcher. He was an all conference second baseman and pitcher in 2013 and 2014 respectively. He graduated from NIU with a degree in accounting. In June of 2014, he was drafted in the 29th round to the Los Angeles angels of Anaheim. He has consistently moved up through the organization and is currently in AAA (Salt Lake City Bees). This will be Alex’s third off-season executing our Ranger training. He is thankful for his time as a professional player and enjoys teaching and coaching kids.

Keaton Steele – Instructor
Keaton Steele is a native of Saint Joseph, Missouri and a graduate of Central High School. During high school, he participated in basketball, baseball, hockey, and football. After high school, Keaton attended Iowa Western Community College as a student-athlete from 2010-2012 as part of their baseball team. While at Iowa Western, he was a member of the 2012 NJCAA Nation Championship Team and was personally recognized as the 2012 MVP of the National Championship Game in the Junior College World Series. In 2012 draft, Keaton was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in 29th round. He opted to attend the University of Missouri to continue to his baseball career and academics. During his first year at Missouri, he was the only player in the nation to lead his team in home runs, wins, and saves as a two-way player. In the 2013 draft he was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 40th round. He opted to return back to school and play one more year at Missouri where he was again drafted. Keaton was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 8th round of the 2014 draft where he pitched until 2018 reaching their AA affiliate (the Chattanooga Lookouts). He has since played Independent baseball in Gary, IN and Sioux Falls, SD. This will be Keaton’s third year executing our Ranger training. He believes in a strong mental approach with a clean and fluid throwing and hitting technique to help promote a healthier career. Keaton enjoys using his experiences to coach and mentor young players developing a love for baseball.

Tony Milz – Hitting Instructor
Tony Milz has been a hitting instructor impacting baseball and softball players on this side of the state for 10+ years. His students have seen success at the youth, high school, and collegiate level – – including his daughter who is currently a starting infielder at University of Georgia. Tony is self-taught through rigorous study of high level swings and has a deep understanding of the development process. Tony takes pride in being a true student of the game and finds the most rewarding aspect of working with hitters is helping them reach their maximum potential.
Marty McDonald – Coach
Marty McDonald joins the RBC staff as a coach. Prior to moving to Missouri, McDonald ran a highly successful program in Arizona called the AZ Rattlers and SV Rattlers and Dusters. His managerial highlights include over 250 career wins across USSSA, PONY, Triple Crown, PBR, and Perfect Game. McDonald was named to the Arizona USSSA All State Program as HC for 2020 and is a two-time HC for the USSSA All American Games. In his high school career, he played at Phoenix Mountain Pointe signing with the Ashland Eagles, NCAA Division 2 program as a catcher. After some family health matters, McDonald transferred back to Arizona and briefly played at Central AZ College before retiring and becoming Varsity Assistant Coach at Phoenix Mountain Pointe. McDonald grew up here locally in Shawnee, KS before moving to Arizona due to family relocation. He returned home in March 2020. He married his high school sweetheart, Marisa, and they have two kids in Maverick and Marleigh and a husky named Princess Royal Sparkle.
